what kind of vehicle do you all use to get out the abandoned mines? just getting to the mine to explore it can be an adventure in itself, having a capable vehicle to throw all your gear in is important. take the poll and post pics of your current vehicle or your ideal one!

Mike,

I would not be the least bit surprised to learn that he has a rotary "wing' ticket too.

im not really collecting them, they just happen to to be the perfect vehicle for what i do. currently there is no vehicle available in North america that would suite my needs, and i can import these because they are 25 years old.

stronger axles than a jeep
bigger frame
same track width as a jeep
same length as a jeep cherokee
factory long arm suspension with coil springs is stonger and articulates better than after market jeep lifts
tons of room
very simple and easy to work on
2.5lt turbo diesel is rated at 32.5 mpg
the 2009 model is vitually the same as this 84 model

Mike, NA vehicles are viturally the same over the same period.

Goods looks
Run great ( when new )
Neigh on impossible to work on
Poor Documentation
Planned Obsolences

And my '92 Blazer and "01 Jimmy have the same fuel pump weakness.

Come on!! I fail to see a problem.

I must say if you're not ready to import your 25+ year old Land Rover from overseas, consider a Jeep Grand Cherokee (ours was probably a 2008 model). I was quite surprised to discover it could scramble over the rocky desert trails nearly as good as a stock Wrangler. Surely I couldn't point out all the advantages and disadvantages but it proved quite capable and got us to mines well off the beaten path.
