This past weekend, we were itching for a good mine discovery so CT Mike and I decided to hit up the Shawangunks. However we didn't expect a fully tracked adit tunnel rich in artifacts and minerals! Respecting the historic operation, we left only footprints and took lots of pictures. Here are just a few for a later slideshow. I hope you enjoy...

that must have had some pretty heavy locomotives and ore cars, noticing the heavy weight rail. looks to be somewhere around 40-60lb. cool find and nice pics.

Yup, this certainly was a good find. Given the weight of the rail, it certainly looks like they were hauling some well weighted ore cars. It is always very exciting to find mines like this where the haulage means are still intact. Additionally, it is thrilling to see full compressed air pipes and air hookups still left for the drills to hook up to. Pretty neat.
