Ironminers.com cordially invites all those with an interest in mining history to attend the 5th annual abandoned mine researchers meet and greet held on Saturday May 22 in Monroe Connecticut. The purpose of this event is to give the public a chance to meet the personalities behind the website and to promote the preservation and documentation of mining history in a responsible way. This event will feature good food, and a relaxed environment. As always we will present a summation of our research since last years meet as well as an introduction to abandoned mine exploration for those newcomers. This will all be exhibited in an interesting way using images, video, minerals and donated artifacts. The event will be held in Monroe CT (a town with an interesting history of bismuth mining) at a restored 1760 homestead. It will start at 3:00 and carry on into the night there is plenty of parking and camping for all. Hope to see you there :D
The address is 181 Hattertown Rd Monroe CT 06468
please email me with any questions -Mike Sandone mss2316@aol.com

I'd like to attend, but being on the other side of the country prohibits it. Would be nice to meet some of you and see what you're doing on the research end of mining. If any of you ever head out to Northern California please let me know as I have over 100 abandoned mines I've been documenting for my own reasons, including some mapping of the old tunnels.

I wanted to give a big thank you to all who attended, but we had another very successful IronMiners Memorial Day party! Tons of food, Miner Pasty's, music, refreshments, badminton matches, car show display, fireworks, and more! I think everyone had a good time and the weather actually worked out perfect!

Pictures to follow!
