Looks like the Yucca Mountain narrow gauge trains are up for auction. Search for Yucca Mountain here:

Would they fit in the IronMiners owned mines in Nevada :)

I don't think any of these mine cars will even fit through our adits without knocking down the timbering. :D However, if you spot any wooden ore cars or donkeys for auction, let me know!

Hey Mike.
DLS has this listed.....a sort of whimsy car.....Dunno how it would stand up to hauling rock though.

I guess that would be a good car to give tours on! But I don't know how well the chains and the seats are going to hold in Gold ore!

That would make for the perfect ore car to haul tourists in! However, I'm afraid if we install it in one of our mines, we'll have too much fun pushing each other around in it and won't get any real mining accomplished. lol

About a month or two ago, I discovered this website here: http://www.orecars.com/

Evidently that company, at least, is still in the business of manufacturing new cars.

Many of them are intended for decorative use such as "lawn ornaments" but some of them are also apparently intended for industrial use, as well, so some mines somewhere must still be buying this stuff.

Also, Brookville is still in the business of making mining locomotives according to their website. I can look for that, too, although most of you have probably already seen it.

Regards,
Fred M. Cain

Hey NZ Chris, what is the name of your railroad? I don't believe that you have told us, and what is the roster? Can anyone show me a picture of the whimsy car? the picture is gone from the website. The website could be a good source of materials and info for when I get mine off the ground when I'm older. (otherwise known as: when I have a job)

Check out the Orecars here,
http://www.discoverlivesteam.com/discov ... /index.htm
maybe at bit small on 7.5 in ga but the prices, Sheesh!! I'd make one in brass for that price.
So far I've outlaid $460 in steel and 4 new CI 9.5" wheels to build a fullsized 18" gauge Orecar, just need to assemble it over this coming winter.
p.s. Dave, no name yet.....maybe Dry Creek Mining Tramway, or Silverthorne Forest Tramway.

Chris,

Does this railway operate? Also, do you have a mine to go with it?

Here is a nice layout by some mining railway enthusiasts near San Diego if you haven't seen this yet:

Evidently the dog is a railway enthusiast as well!! :)

Hey Banks, Is your first name Brian? I saw someone on a DLS article about lawsuits with the name Brian Banks. Is that you?
