It's always a good safety tip to carry your gas meter with you when you're mining should there be the potential for toxic sulfur gases. But at the Kawah Ijen Sulfur Mine in Indonesia, you might as well leave it at home. Here there's simply no avoiding it if you want to mine some sulfur. This active volcano with its rich sulfur "deposit" also boasts a serene lake of hydrochloric acid. If you decide to boat on the lake, don't bother to carry a life jacket either, it will do you know good if you capsize!

whats amazing is they are using respirators with dust protection in gas!!! idiots! you need a fresh air breathing system, not a dust mask   its like going into blackdamp and putting a rag over your face and saying ok, lets continue........ wow.

I finally got a chance to watch the YouTube video.. Yeah that is pretty rough. Its kind of funny how the miners were almost giving dirty looks at the camera guys with their dust masks. Just then afterwards the miners go into the deadly gasses with a bandana over their faces. Not a healthy mining environment at all.

I liked when they went in there with the gas meter to check on the levels of the gases. Kinds of reminds me when we brought my MSA passport to the Olyphant Mine Fire! For some reason it never worked the same after that...
