Okay, my French isn't too good, but here:

Bauxite mine BA2 - Paca

The bauxite mining in the area began on a small scale around 1886. At the beginning of the twentieth century, several companies shared the deposit. In 1931, most of the sites were taken by a single company, itself acquired in 1972 by a major international company. Between 1931 and the closure of the mine in the mid-80s, more than 4 million tonnes of bauxite were extracted.
Access to the deposit is made by inclined on which the saloons were full ski plans using winches that there are still many vestiges. In the upper part of the mine, a long crosscut with a haulage way possible to get full sedans to the base of the incline up to the main tile map. The "trains" sedans were pulled by diesel locomotives including two copies remained in the background. To the west of the main ramp, taxi was equipped with a horizontal streak cable.
In its modern period, the mine was operated with diesel engines on tires that had access to the sites by a large ramp. It is now immersed in the flooding ... Is easily distinguished from the modern building sites, large and regular galleries, older neighborhoods. In the areas visited, the ore was extracted essentially by the method of room and pillar abandoned.
I thank Robert and Eric for the discovery of this mine which access is unfortunately today condemned.

I know this is just a rough translation, but if the mines in France boast saloons where I can get a quick fix and watch full size Caprice Classics filled with ore, I gotta check this place out!

The photos are impressive. Around here, you will only find a site this rich with artifacts if you have to rapell 200+ feet to get into it, or it is under lock and key, and you hold the key.
