Here is a another photograph I own of CN: 24 built by Smith & Porter in 1868 for Wood & Morrell Co. Johnstown, PA. It is likely this locomotive was used by Cabria Iron in their Rolling Mill Mine.

I not surprised that they would be used underground at Barclay; I guess they were used to having fire in the mines from the ventalation furnaces.
nice pictures of early locos.

The other locomotive was called Erastus Corning, Legend has it that was left in the mine, Stripmine operations stopped a few hundred feet short of the suspected site. So it will remain a mystery.

Hmmm banksey, where did we stick those rules of smizoism again? I'm going to have to find that as I believe it was good ground rules. But if I must go from memory I think it was article 1b section 3 of page 4 that states we don't take on assignments from people who's names start with "miner" that aren't actually mining anything. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that was the ruling set forth previously within "underground anthracite"

oh, I mine. It is just sand. (not in the sandbox, for real. I have to help my grandfather with a sandpit every now and then when he is making some stuff.) That counts, right?

Hey Digger,

"Erastus Corning"... That is very interesting information. Do you know anything else about the locomotive. I have information that it was twice as heavy as the "H.D.V. Pratt" weighing in at 10 tons, but I don't have any more information.

Regards,
Mark

Dave,

You should be warned, Banks is a lot like the Quote from C.S. Lewis in Chronicles of Narnia.

"Is He safe?
" Oh no my dear! He isn't Safe, But he is good."
