Location: Above the Sterling Hill Mine
These are pictures from our missions to the Eddy Tunnel in Pennsylvania. This mine is in the Northern Antracite Field. This is a dangerous mine with a pretty weak ceiling. We don't go back here anymore.

Entrance to the Eddy Tunnel. The entrance is partially backfilled.

Another view above the railroad tracks

One of the first rooms we encounter in the mine.

A view into the workings of this mine.

Image
Another view into the workings. To the right is an air door.

Image
Viewing the air door straight on

Image
A view of works from inside of this room. It is believed that this room may have been used formerly as an air lock.

Chris filming the mine

Image
View looking down the haulage way. UGM arrows can be seen on the walls pointing to the exit.

Image
It is believed that this room may have been closed off and used for storing explosives.

Image
Inside of the room, while very caved, evidence of white walls can be found around the rock falls.

Image
This tunnel goes towards the air shaft to the mine.

Image
Chris films Banks explaining about the air shaft. The back filled air shaft is to the right.

Image
Gobb rock used to control air flow in the mine. This door goes into the workings.

Image
Ahead are more workings for the mine. An old air pipe can be seen going into the workings.

Image
Old wall used to control water flow in the mine.

Image
Ancient photo found of a miner with an oil wick lamp.

Image
Another old miner who surprisingly has a comfo cap and a soft cap with an oil wick lamp. This proves that technology is no match for the brightness of an oil wick lamp.

Image
View of mine researchers under the air bridge found in the Eddy Tunnel

Image
Looking to the left, an entrance into the workings and a way to get to the air bridge of the mine.

Image
Looking inside of the air bridge.

Image
A very rusted 55 gallon drum found inside of workings of the mine.

Image
Walking through the workings of the mine.

Image
Gobb rock surrounding props.

Image
Two mine researchers attempting to stand inside of the workings of the mine.

Image
Banks standing next to a robbed pillar of the mine. I wouldn't do that if I were him!

Image
Braveness wearing off, mine researchers starting their exit of this mine.

Image
Nice view of more props of the mine.

Image
Looking backwards at a Y off of the mine.

Image
Again heading back out of the mine.

Image
Near the entrance of the mine. Time for the climb out.
