Is that a caved shaft with stuff dumped into it or is it opened at the surface? The bore hole looks to go down, but wasn't sure about the other pit. I would also say to be careful of closed shafts which look like small pits. While they look safe at the surface, they are really a shaft which is plugged. Usually they are plugged with the old cribbing (timbers) which was used to support the collar of the shaft. When the cribbing further rots away, they can and do open up again. You wouldn't want to be in there if it does.

is this a vertical shaft? most people call any hole into the ground a "mine shaft"

Is it caved or can you enter the mine (or fall into the mine) through this shaft? How far down does it go? What are the dimensions of the shaft and is it vertical or does it go down at an angle?

The other picture which you posted which says "little shaft" and shows water at the bottom looks to be a bore hole or drill hole. Is this what is in the bottom of the pit which you were in?
