Thanks for the quick response frank. I have been there and most of the rockaway mines, and a bunch of abandoned railroad tunnel in Northern NJ. I am not part of the WeirdNJ Cult., but I must admit I do enjoy there publications I knew my neighborhood was an old mining community and I was just blown away when I stumbled across this site and found this mine listed. Do you know of any clubs or group in this area that hike mines caves tunnels as I am pretty new to this area and spend many hours hiking the old rail bed from Roxbury to Portland PA solo

The rails where ripped up in 84 and it runs from Hopatcong to Portland PA. There is an old rail Tunnel known as the "Ice Cave" along the way and 2 sets of caves that we are about to hunt out near Silver Spring Road.
