Hi,

If you are out and about around Port Clinton, the Reading & Northern is finishing up restoration of steam locomotive #425. It was outside under steam yesterday, and is supposed to do test runs in the area over the next few days. She isn't fully repainted yet, lotsa primer, and should make a neat site as the only active steam locomotive on the only active anthracite hauler!

Rob

Yes, we need some pictures of that.. You say active, is this steam engine still listed as being active? I thought the only active, non-retired status steam engine left in the United States was the Union Pacific 844 4-8-4 Steam engine..

The UP 844 is the only steamer never to be retired. It has been on the UP roster since it arrived on their property. Still is some steam around if you know where to look. In the last year, only in eastern PA, I have seen at least 11 locos under steam and it sounds like next year will be even better as mechanical work gets done. I shot by Port Clinton on Monday but didn't see 425.
