Okay, first of all, it is a pleasure to have the honor of making the first post of the new year. (in other words, HA HA)

Secondly, I think everyone on the IM forum should post up what they think is their best, most interesting, or most unique mining or railroading photograph from 2007 with an explanation. I don't have my photographs on this computer right now, but when I get to them I will post one. Until then, everyone else, Have at it! We've got quite the diverse crew here, so there ought be some really interesting stuff! :D

I think this is my best photo because it shows the value of our work in the larger community. The image shows the 1882 slate quarry steam hoist at Rough and Tumble, August 2007.

We will post mining pictures latter but this was one of the top coolest project moves we did in 2007.

Most of our Ohio Vintage Coal members were on this project as there regular day time job:

Length: 75 ft
Total car weight 155,000 lbs
Car built: 1895

Total weight of super trailer & car body: 258,000 lbs
Length of trailer & semi truck: 180 ft

Moved from Fort Worth, Texas to Columbus, Ohio approx 1,100 miles

The passenger car could not be shipped by rail due to the age & several mechanical items on the car that were outlawed for safety reasons. This is the reason most rail cars have to be trucked vs, shipping them by rail.
