Thanks to the help of two of the most knowledgeable people I know on the subject of Mining, I have acquired The Kingdom of Coal book and look forward to reading it.

However, Chris' suggested reading included The Story of Anthracite, which I can't find for under $125.

Am I better off making a trek to the library to find it?

You can try finding it at a library, but I can promise you that if you find it there you'll be buying your own copy !

I got mine on Ebay.. every now and then one will show up if you keep an eye out, and usually they don't go for too much on there.

Why thank you! Even being that I'm an iron guy, that is a great book. Tons is great information and some great geological facts. Like Mike A said, you'll want it if you read it.

Thanks guys. I'll keep my eye out for it on ebay.
It's either that or get it on Amazon for an amazing price (in which case, it had better be bound in gold), or get it from Germany. Just as expensive.
