Ray what is up with the trolley pole since it is a storage battery mine locomotive?

huh, i didnt even see that until you mentioned it. thats strange. must be part of the exhibit. i bet 95% of the people that ride that dont know what a storage battery is :roll:

Probably the trolley pole is there to activate all the machinery and announcements as it approaches. Thought it was used to continuosly charge the batteries, but the wire that circles the pole is too thin for that. Note, there is also some kind of conduit system in between the running rails, not sure what that is used for.

I'd guess it is there for show like when you are in the Lackawanna Mine Tour. Makes it look like it is being used but you don't have the dangers of a person touching the wire..

Yeah but at least Lackawanna's was orrigionally meant to be a trolly pole locomotive..

True.. But the cable being held up by wire ties just doesn't do it justice..
