Hey, it's great that something like this can take place like it has for so many years before it, especially with all the gloom and doom predicted from global warming and environmental issues.

Of course, I'm coming from a place where we've never been able to harvest ice or even skate on a frozen pond because it never gets that cold for a sustainable period of time.

Right now, I'm sitting here waiting for a snow storm that probably won't even happen. I would love to see 3 feet of snow that will shut down this city so that I can go home and take a nap.

Darn city living!

Theresa

In Eagles Mere PA they cut ice blocks and form a slide down a street and across the lake
I have ice saws and tongs but have never used them

Hey Digger,

My family has a cabin up near Eagles Mere. We don't get up there much in the wintertime.

We were up there for President's weekend one year and there were people ice skating on one of the ponds. I almost had a heart attack thinking that they wre gonna fall through.

I'm just not used to rivers, ponds and lakes freezing completely through.

Still waiting for my big snowstorm here... it didn't happen.

:(

Theresa

Don't know if it is in operation yet;
I live about 25 miles or so from there...snow has turned to rain here[10.45 PM]
I have never rode the ice slide on the ""official" multi-person tobogan thing..AH I better stop now before I incriminate myself or something ha ha

OK, I'm drunk, due to ice keeping me here. I'm not making any money either, but I digress.
Banks, are you serious, or playin'?

On a related topic, does anyone know if there is still an ICE4U2C event sponsored by Damenti's Restaurant? I visited their big 2005 festival in Forty Fort, but unfortunately haven’t heard anything since. They had the coolest ice carvings I ever saw! Does the idea live on anywhere? Since the event was anthracite themed, I posted some images under the coal mining photos forum here:

Did anybody go to the ice harvest?
If I get a windy afternoon this week and can't work I'm going to go saw holes in the pond
