Now this is cool. The operator sits in between both units - operates the brake from the lead unit - operates the master controller from the 2nd motor.

wow, thats neat ray. ive seen that with larger locomotives but not smaller ones. we ran a nice double header with the 7 and 10 ton motors at the 9.

That had to be challenging to operate with the second unit bounching all over the place. That is where your hand has to be to operate the controller.

Why didn't they just order a heavier locomotive that is strange?

Or put the controller on the motor you were sitting in. Having two motors will give you a little more traction when you need it, but that setup doesn't look too comfortable to operate..
