Not mining related but a very historical building, once the second biggest in the coutry, maybe gone forever.

PARSIPPANY -- The last of the old Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital, including the historic main building, has been declared surplus by the state and will be posted for sale.

Local politicians are interested in the acreage, but that building may be hard to sell.

Morris County Freeholder Gene Feyl said he, county officials and the mayors of Morris Township, Parsippany and Morris Plains will meet next week with state treasury department officials to clarify each party's interest in the remaining 130 acres of the original 671-acre site. None of these officials, however, wants to buy the old hospital building that in recent years housed the hospital's administration.

I do not think anybody will buy it but if it does a great piece of local history will be gone since it will get knocked down.

Where's the Historical Society in all this?

That'll be sad to see go if that's the case.

Yeah that is too bad. In this day and age in NJ, any large lots of land seem to lend themselves to development. It is certainly very interesting driving through Greystone, seeing all of the historical buildings scattered around. I'm not sure exactly which building they are talking about though...
