I thought I posted this, but maybe it got moderated or something.

Please respond with any ideas, companies or people you may know.

Antenna Films is working with a major cable television network to develop a documentary
series taking place in the world of coal mining.

We are looking for an inspirational and charismatic group of miners who represent the
backbone of America in the coal mining industry. We will follow them throughout their
daily lives and work in the mines with the intention of educating and revealing this intense
and fascinating profession.

We will highlight the amazing processes and technological feats that have expanded the
habitable universe and created breakthroughs that allow us—above ground—to live better,
more productive lives.

We are looking for great characters, who are driven to be the best at what they do and
unafraid to speak their mind about it. We want to come to understand them and root for
them as they solve problems in a precarious environment. We will highlight the teamwork
and the extraordinary steps necessary to assure these miner's safety.

Our films tell their stories from the point of view of our subjects. We pride ourselves in
staying true to the experiences and understanding of the people we follow. We are
interested in telling the stories of people for whom we have the greatest respect. The
world of modern day coal mining is one that few Americans are aware of, and far fewer
understand. Coal miners are true unsung American originals.

Antenna Films is an award winning production company whose work has included many
hours of television for networks such as Discovery, History, A&E, Lifetime, HBO, and
others. We won a prestigious Peabody Award and a Cine Golden Eagle Award for our
Discovery Channel special, "Black Sky: The Race For Space," following maverick airplane
designer Burt Rutan's quest put the first commercial astronaut in space and win the X
Prize. We recently developed the show "Ice Road Truckers" for History Channel.

Please see our website for more information:

I look forward to hearing from any of you. Please e-mail me at the address below.

Many thanks,

Michelle Sullivan

This might be good...a "Deadliest Catch" type show about coal miners. Maybe long overdue.

the problem is they wouldn't get very far with MSHA... anyone going in the hole (camera crew and such) has to have a 40 hour training course, and they can't take non "permissible" camera equipment into the mines off the main intake airway. .... Theres really not much going on in the main intake. filming Dirty Jobs at RS&W caused quite the commotion.. and Hard Coal didn't help. It's technically illegal.

Well that just stinks.
Perhaps someone affiliated with a bigger production company can get more permission granted. That is, if the miners want filmed for something like that.
