Today, while visiting a retired quarry worker, I came across this impressive century old model of a cableway carriage:

The wheels spun and the block came up when I pulled on the cable. Has anyone else seen any model cableways? The only other one I remember seeing was at the Hoover Dam:

Mike, very cool looking model. I wouldn't mind having something like that in the living room -- maybe thrown in a few headframes though! You might be interested in knowing a couple local mines utilized cableways for transporting ore including the Shawangunk Mine in NY and the West End Mine (or is it the West Portal?). There is still archeological evidence extant at Shawangunk.

Yeah I'm not entirely sure. Where were these photos taken? Were they in high areas which could have served this purpose? Many time the terrain is a good telltale sign on what could have been there.
