T was there because she wanted to check and make sure that the rails were still okay after she had been there the last time!

And here I go talking about myself in the third person again! I really should have that checked.

Anyway... Ford sucks... Drive a Jeep!

:P

P.S. I had an alternate attachment that day.

What engine did you have in the D 500? 361, 413 or maybe even a 318 ? Those trucks are awesome! If one ever came up for a resonable price I'd be inclined to buy it!

I don't know much about the D500's, but excluding diesel, the only engines Dodge produced that year would be a slant 6, 318, 360, 400, or 440. Given that is a 2 ton truck, I'd imagine it would have either a 400 or a 440. As the big blocks were hard to get for a number of years, people would usually pull them out of those trucks.. Although it is thin wall casting..

Dodge made the 361 and 413 right up to the end of the medium and heavy duty truck line, 1978. The 361 and 413 weren't your regular big blocks. They had a camshaft that gave more torque than the ones used in cars and light trucks, different heads, different cranks ( harder steel or something I forget exactly) and weren't saddled with nearly as much emissons equipment.Plus I think they were the original heavy wall block. D/W 100 - 300's had the regular 400's and 440's D400's -D800's had the options of a 225, (yes I have seen a D400 equiped with one!) 318 ( which again wasn't your regular light duty 318) 360, 361, and 413. There really big trucks had the options of perkins, cummins and I think maybe detroit diesels and a 478 cid and a 549 cid GAS engine that I think was made by International Harvester. I think the D500 was a 5 ton truck, I think the D400 was a three or four tonner.

weren't the real big dodge trucks a "C" series? not the long horn. are there any dodge truck fanatics out there? I have some '46 dodge 1 1/2 trucks that need a new home.....AND did you know some of the first R model macks came with a 413 dodge engine
