I'm looking for drawings, pictures or descriptions of Cornish, Appalachian or Saxon stamp mills, and detailed information on date and location within the U.S.
Does anyone know of any static or functional early stamp mills in museums or state parks? These mills predated California mills and had square wooden stamps instead of round iron or steel ones. Used by German and Cornish miners since the 1500's, they began to be used in the US starting in the 1830's gold rush and made their way west until the improved mills began to be produced in San Francisco. Need the information for a museum display of stamp mill history.
