When John and I met up at Cabin Fever we talked about creating a thread for similarly interesting things that are coming up. Here are two such events:

Friday, January 30th – Railroad Film Night in Easton, PA:

The next day, a nearby blacksmith shop will have an open house that should be fascinating.

Here are the dates for Rough and Tumble:
http://www.roughandtumble.org/rt_visit_sched.asp
There are tractor pulls, steam ups, blacksmithing events, etc.
The biggest, must see, event is August 12-15. If tradition holds, then the evening of the 14th will be the steam tractor games and spark show!

A smaller, but still worthwhile event of a similar nature is held in the slatebelt:
http://www.jacktown.com/
They have shows May 16 & 17, July 17-19, and October 17 &18.

I am posting up a few pics of our 2007 display. This is the top underground show in the country for coal mining.

The show is hosted by mining media (COAL AGE MAGAZINE)

The dates for this years show is June 16th, 17th, & 18th held in the Pittsburgh Convention Center

For more information: http://www.longwallusa.com

We should be there this year with a new vintage piece of equipment for display if everything goes to plan.

Lots of fun stuff coming up in Pittsburgh May 28-31:

I’ll be part of a panel presentation on big engines (the Tod engine and Bethlehem blowing engines [no Flory content :( ]) during the convention, so I’ll be there.

A great mining museum, located on the show grounds, will also be open.
