Why are people still living in Centralia? Is it because they feel they have no where else to go or simply don't want to give up what they have because they don't have anything else left after?

Didn't I also hear that some of them actually believe it's a gov't scam?
I don't know the details of that story.

i dont know about a govt scam/conspiracy, but i do know theres alot of coal still sitting under that town...... and theres alot of stripping shovels near by! i really dont see why they dont move especially if they are going to be bought out.

Why should they move? Because the Govt. wants them too? I have to say I might be inclined to stay if I have CO2 detectors and there not picking anything up I would think long and hard about moving.
