Just curious of the type of gear everyone uses. Wether or not it is new or old equipment like helmets, lamps, meters etc etc. I was looking at the pictures of gear and everyone seems to use a wide range of equipment from traditional rock climbing helmets and lamps to traditional mining helmets, lamps and meters. So lets hear it!

I use approved mining head gear, MSA Skullgard and MSA Comfocap's. Lighting gear I use a Koehler Wheat Lamp repro which runs via a sealed battery at 12V. Get better range, lighting, and life than an older Wheat Lamp. Meters, I use an MSA Passport 4 gas meter.

For us CT guys we use all petzel gear including helmet ,headlamp and SRT gear( rope, ascenders , harness, carabiners, etc.)
but traditional comfo caps look better for pictures!

additional lighting is provided by thor 10,000,000 power light

transportation is jeep wranglers modified to traverse rough terrain

boats are inflatable explorer with collapsable paddles and electric rechargable air pump

I carry a tape measure and small shovel too

Nowadays, for hard rock mines I wear MSA Skullgards (see http://www.ironminers.com/ironmines/sunflower-mine-frame-42.htm for cap version and http://www.ironminers.com/ironmines/sparta-mine-frame-5.htm for full brim). For coal mines, I stick with the MSA coal mine approved Comfo Cap (see http://www.ironminers.com/coalmines/lehman-179-slope-frame-3.htm. Like Miner Greg, I also use a Koehler Wheat Lamp repro with sealed 12 volt battery and MSA Passport for detecting harmful gases and/or Koehler flame safety lamp.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Belt-with-bulb-pouc ... dZViewItem

this is a coon hunting belt. will work perfectly. even has a pocket for an extra bulb. this valley creek sells tons of these. they work great. mine is a leather miners belt. has a holder for the wheat lamp battery but this coon hunting belt is the same thing but nylon, has the holder for the battery and everything. even a few extra clips to hook your...... well anything.... to.
