It looks like an older tank maybe for gas for welding the bat gates or something or another lol?!?!?

Holy smokes John! another good addition by the Western Correspondent!

In the 6th one down it looks like roof bolts in the rock face above the opening to prevent it from falling over the opening. Can that be confirmed?

The 3rd one up from the bottem looks cool with the wood behind the metal gate. 8)

What mineral are most of them? Copper?

a couple of them were silver mines. most mines in the region had complex ores containing gold, lead, silver, zinc, and copper, but gold and silver were the primary motivation....

chris, that one has both an adit in the hillside that's caved and a shaft that's been gated with the old pipe/gate combo.

it's not clear if the arches were used as a headframe, but the hoist is still there, to the right.

the half-buried arches were part of a support for the adit (or mine opening, for you pennsylvanians)
