Well, I'm back after a long break. I want to trek to some mines in the spring, and I need something to tell me where they are. I am looking for a book called Iron Mine Trails (written by Ed Leniks). All the copies that I've seen online are more than $200. Does anywhere know where I can find a copy for less than $30? Or if someone could sell me a copy (through Paypal), that would be fantastic.
Thank you,
~kal301

I am truly amazed at how secret mine history buffs dictate the market! I bought my copy for less than $10 when it was still in print and had it signed by Ed Lenik in person. If I carry that around with me, I might get robbed! All kidding aside, Ed is a great guy and I hope he gets another edition out in print soon.

Funny how many of the books I rely upon are or have been out of print.

I bought my copy of Iron Mine Trails when it was released and it is falling apart. But the NJ Geological Report of 1910 by Bailey has been out of print forever with only bootleg copies available. And Vanishing Ironworks just was rereleased in soft cover after many years out of print.

Funny too as I actually have two copies of Iron Mine Trails, just that one is my emergency copy because well, nearly 90% of the pages have come unbound from it. One time while I was using it to locate the Dater Mine, suddenly the wind picked up and blew a cloud of mining literature into the air! After the dust finally settled over the summit of Dater Mountain, I then (with much help and thanks from my significant other), picked up the pages, reordered them, then slapped them back into the nearly naked binding!

Yeah I have a couple copies as well.. I had my reference copy and then the beater / hiking copy that I would throw into my backpack. I never thought it would go up in value like this. A really great book though.

I used it yesterday on my hike into Hogencamp. Wanted to make sure I saw everything he wrote about.
