P.S. The light has a little charge now and comes on perfectly but I know it aint going to last 8-9 hours. :?

Koehler makes an update kit to switch the key charger to a slide. They are about $25.00. United Supply has the kit.

It is a pretty simple change if a person know some very basic electronics.

K,,,thx Doug and I will look into that, I just dont think i will have time to order and wait and all that good stuff. I am pretty good with electronics if I could just get someone to tell me how to rig it up for time being.

youll have to take the top off the battery and just hook alligator clips from your charger to the terminals on the battery. use your volt meter to determine which terminals on the charger are which polarity...... if youre going to be using this to work, id invest in a proper piece of equipment as soon as practical.

:?: :?: okay,, I know this sounds stupid but I have a Fluke Volt meter and it has a LCD display and when I touch the positive side to the Pin on the charger and the negetive to the flat part i get a reading of -6 and when I switch them around I get 6 volts. So when I get the +6 that means whatever I got the positive side of the meter hooked to then that is positive, Correct?? :?: :?:

Doesnt the mine you are going to work at have a charger rack? I would just toss it on theirs a day or 2 before you start. I am sure they would let you.

well thx guys,,, I got it charging ,, the needle is between 1 amp and the dark area that says charged, by the way it is "Wheat Charger Model 1100" and by what the guy said , after it is in the dark area, turn it on Low so it will trickle charge and leave it be.

yep, thats just what you do. mine is sitting here marinating on low as we speak. take care of your battery and keep it charging like that and itll last forever. my old battery i bought used and was 11 years old. well taken care of and still lasted 12 hrs. when we started working the mines a few years ago i got a new one and that one is running 14 hrs no problem.

Just to update you guys, I used some wire and some gator clips and got it charging. I got it to full charge and put it on low so it would trickle charge and today at 3:00 pm I turned it on to time it and see what the full run time is and I am happy to say its almost 9:00 pm and its still just as bright as it was at 3 pm. Just so u guys know I got this light from a local pawn shop for 30 bucks, it was at the bottom of the huge pile of wheat lights the guy had and it looks brand new, the manafacture date is 10/08 and its a Koehler 5200 Mark V,,,thx for the help guys.

yea,,, i bet the guy has 30 or 40 maybe more. I thought i picked the best out of them, the one I have just about has no scratches on head piece or Batt, but I dont really know what to look for I am new at mining myself and never delt with the wheat light , except for the one my dad used to coon hunt with. I just got my mining cards in Ky and Wv in March and been trying to get everything together for work (light, hard hat, belt, hammer) etc. Just Hard to get in if you dont know alot of people around here. I got like 6 or 7 applications in and no callback yet, but I dont do drugs, have a good work ethic and I am coal hungary. I have a new baby to raise and for a hillbilly like me, thats the only way to make good money around here. I am so determined to start a carrer in mining. :P :P
