I just watch the movie Unstoppable from beginning to end for the first time, and I was wondering if it is as realistic as I believe it is. What do you think NZ Chris?

Sorry Dave, never watched it. I can't stand Hollywood Hokey when it comes to railroading. Take that Runaway train movie done up in Alaska years ago, pure unadulterated BS, especially when it came to trying to shut the units down. Really made me want to get up and leave the picture theatre but the Mrs wanted to stay to the end. Al they had to do was pop the Governor button if ALL the other ways wouldn't work.
That's why I haven't seen this latest.

I quoted it because that was the nly scene that I had seen at the time. I now have seen it all the way through.

Chris, Being a foamer (yes, I admit it), I thought that some of the scenes were well done, and teh railroad slang was used in the right context. But, I'm just a railfan.

I saw it, but I didn't think it was realistic at all.. So many things were flat out against Newton's Laws of Motion..

I travel in the areas where it was filmed on a regular basis, makes the movie fun to watch for me. The movie followed many details of the actual incident it was based on. The engine [CSX #8888 ""crazy eights"] is rumored to be dismantled soon. I also like visiting the areas where "the molly maguires" was filmed.
