so i was contacted to do some aerial photography work with some of our multi rotor copters for an up and coming documentary on the Huber Breaker by John Welsh and his team. My buddy brought up his large 8 rotor monster hauling around a Sony NEX 7 on a gyro stabilized gimbal. I "flew" the camera while he flew the machine. the camera has full 3 axis motion controlled by the transmitter. while i was operating the camera myself and John were looking through first person goggles and were viewing what youre recording real time. that way he can give me commands for the exact shots hes looking for. for the inside stuff i flew Johns quad copter equipped with a HD gopro 3. that you just fly around aiming at stuff and hope you get some good footage. id say it worked. flying that thing around inside the breaker was....... well...... interesting. not much room for error. heres some stills and a teaser video to go along with it! cant wait to see the full length production, there may also be some guest appearances from UGM in our element.

Very nice. So, what would it take to get you to do the same thing at a quarry? I'd sure like to get some video for an upcoming lecture.

Chris,

This video is incredible! Just amazing! I'd have to say drones really add a new prospective to mine videos. I just don't see any other way to get comparable shots of a structure like this.

All of a sudden, I have a whole bunch more ideas for future mine documentation!

yea how bout it Greggles! however to be technically correct, these are not drones. these are just "hobby multirotor helicopters" the one i did the first person view video flight i posted up a few months ago was a "drone" difference is, drones are flown first person view. we were flying line of sight.

all sorts of stuff we can go back and video! i bet a headframe would be cool to do some shots of!

I don't want to sound like a parrot, but Greg is right that is technically off the scale. Great Job. Hope to see the finished product.

Better do it now before they are all gone.....Hazelton Shaft head frame, Springdale shaft, Ewen machine shop and the list goes on.
