Interesting conversion. It should have been built with a Hercules O X gas engine. I bet it was converted to propane for the amusement ride industry. Anything can run again it just takes two items

TIME

&

MONEY $$$$$

with that anything is possible

Banks have you ever thought of just building you own custom mine locomotive? ? I am sure you can pull that off with some mine wheels, sprockets, steel, wood, & some welding.

That unit, and the other two still operating at Kennywood, were specially built by Vulcan for the 1939-40 New York World's Fair, in that configuration. Just some cosmetic changes were done to the other two active units. Vulcan used a typical 5-Ton mine loco frame and just built the Art Deco body over it. As far as I know, the two units at the park are still gas fueled, unless they did change them to propane.

Yeah Pete, you know what the problem with fabricating a locomotive is?

TIME

&

MONEY

It would be cool to do though...

Thats funny that the look of those locomotives is actually original... Personally, I'm not a fan. Oh well I guess..

I ran across this same locomotive today. It is now in front of the station in Oaks, PA:

Some standard gauge lokies were down the street.

Inside the train show was an operable 16 inch gauge 4-4-0. It will be auctioned on January 16 at Cabin Fever Expo in York, PA:

For a list of surviving Vulcans, go here:
http://www.steamlocomotive.com/lists/
enter Vulcan where it says "search for survivors."
