We would give you a burnishing tool for the lathe if we had a spare one.

picked up some parts from our local steel supplier today to fabricate the axles. have one more piece to get for each after i took some measurements tonight. they should be built by late this week then next monday we can paint the new axles and bumpers we yet have to pick up. one day this week i have to go over and measure up the flat car again to get wood sizes as the bottom frame of the car is going to be exactly the same, but with roller bearings.

ok guys, the new axles are built and painted! i picked them up today after my buddy at skyhaven airport in tunkhannock welded them all together. they look great as i took them to the shop and put a coat of paint on them. this mine car isnt going to know what to do with itself with these brand new parts on it! didnt have the camera with me but i will get some nice shots of them on mine car monday, as we prep and paint the bumpers and dump door mechanism. this coming week we order the wood and then its frame up time!

you know, i wanted to weigh them but didnt have a scale, maybe ill take one up on monday. we carried them to the truck with 2 of us on it, but i unloaded them myself. im going to guess around 150lbs each. they are only about 3/4 or 1 inch larger in diameter than the other ones we were going to use, but they are heavier!

Those axles certainly came out nice. From the pictures, they look like a perfect set of brand new axles. Not bad at all...

Well I kind of mean't is that they don't look fabricated. They look like one piece fresh cut axles rather than fabricated together. You can't tell at all from the pictures...

I guess that is the only problem though.. They are too new for the rest of the car!
