On Saturday evening I attended an event at this spectacular museum in York, PA. Here are some of the highlights of the collection.

The boiler at Bauman’s was originally used for a portable engine like this one. Both were built by Farquhar in York, PA.

This is a replica steam locomotive made of wood.

This 72 ton, 104 year old steam powered ammonia compressor was turned over with an electric motor. Video is at:

Pretty cool pics, Mike.
I didn't even know about that or I may have drug my ailing butt out of bed to go see that.
I didn't even get to the Farm Show this year. Bummer.

Hope you didn't run into any traffic problems in York.
Ugh...

I'm glad to see that the EMD 40-Tonner from the Harley-Davidson plant is finally preserved. The last time I visited York it was sitting at an isolated siding next to the plant rusting away.

The museum is well worth a visit. Just call ahead to make sure the machinery will be running. In addition to the ammonia compressor, there was a three story tall operating gristmill, patternmakers lathe, shaper, 20 hp gas engine, and a couple other neat pieces. Even more was on static display. Here is the official site:

Traffic was not bad. Route 30 was busy, but delay free.
