well...smaller equipment...scattered ...some mtns only had one mine..alot of the old workins were destroyed by stripmining....last underground work that I know of was done in the 70's

nothing like you are used to seeing...some collasped buildings...a few mines are open..if you know where to look 95% of the equipment is gone from the places I know

something turns up once in a while ...the winch I have came from a junkyard...don't know which mine its fromI...I beat the scrapman to a truck scale from a mine in Bradford Co. my minecar came from McIntyre mtn

Have you been to the mines near Forksten? there appears to be an active mine or breaker near Dushore PA in Cherry Township. I saw it from the airplane one day out tooling around.

I didn't see any dtripping from what I remember but this was a long time ago.. I would say it was either not active, stripping, or they are eating culm banks up for the coal.

might be the Lopez-Bernice -Mildred area that you saw..,,used to be some smaller operaters there
