The back yard is no excuse! Just put a slope in & bingo instant storage space! The 20 ton cars will make it much easier when mining as well.

yes, but the mucker will only fill the end of the car. i guess we can put rail in the car and mount the other mucker inside it :D then, we can distribute the coal to the other end. as the car goes through the rotator we can just pop the mucker out then. they only weigh 4 tons

OK I'll show my ignorance.... Guess I could search it on the web but what the hell......
What exactly is Anthricite? I have heard of it for years and if I am not mistaken I may have even learned it back in school but it has escaped that area of my mind. Damn Bud Light!!! killed those important brain cells.......

Never mind I googled it...........

Anthracites are black and have a brilliant, almost metallic lustre. Hard and brittle, they can be polished and used for decorative purposes. They are difficult to ignite but burn with a pale-blue flame and require little attention to sustain combustion.
Physically, anthracite differs from ordinary bituminous coal by its greater hardness, its higher relative density of 1.3-1.4, and lustre, which is often semi-metallic with a mildly brown reflection. It contains a high percentage of fixed carbon and a low percentage of volatile matter. It is also free from included soft or fibrous notches and does not soil the fingers when rubbed.

This sounds almost EXACTLY what the coal we are mining looks like. Very shiny almost looks silver metallic. You can handle it all night and never gets your hands dirty. I tried to burn it with cutting torches a few weeks ago and almost never got it to burn. And it is brittle too can be broken by squeezing it with one hand. There is tons of fools gold in it too. I know I have heard management say we are getting good money for it and we deliver it straight from the cleaning plant to the American Electric Power plant just down the road to be burned for electricity.

haha, i never heard of it as refered to as anthracites. anthracite is coal that has a carbon content between 93 and 98% i believe bitty is from mid 70s to upper 80% but not sure on that. our coal lies in multiple veins which in some places can be 50 foot thick and 10 or 12 seams high going thousands of feet down. in the northern field, the coal veins lay mainly flat, like bitty, but in the southern and middle fields they lie highly pitched, in some places 90 degrees. imagine running a cont miner up that  for more info and pics check out our site:

Anthracite is completely different but yes they are both coal. It is not like bituminous even the smokeless type. When you (Tony) mine coal it is fresh cut hence the shine. Anthracite you can mine this stuff & come back 60 years latter & it is still shiny. Bituminous decays at a faster rate but the mining process is much more cost effective. Anthracite uses very little machinery unless strip mining. The output of the bituminous mines blows anthracite out of the water because we are able to use machines at a fsat rate of removal as well.

Tony another thing to keep in mind that our seams are basically horizontal Anthracite has veins & the degree of the vein is the pitch angle. Some veins are very close to just going vertical. I have to say it is very cool & you should check it out if you are in the N.E. part of Pa.
