yea whats with these moderators........ yea.

anyways, back on track, hear they shut down rt 940 as the subsidence is spreading towards the road. seems osm is going to take care of it some way or another in a week or 2.

So how do you think they will fix this? dig it up and then fill and cap it? I think the big drag line should get another job and be brought up from the mine fire!!!

stopped by the drifton subsidence today. they have the holes filled in and one house stabilized. from what i hear the other may be a loss. the one that they think they can save has one corner held up by steel pipes and a rather large I beam. rt 940 is still closed and it may be for a long time until they can stabilize the ground beneath it. there were cracks in the pavement, but they looked old. that doesnt mean it hasnt been settling over time though. i took some pics but left my camera in mikes truck, so ill post them on monday.

Yeah, it really doesn't look good for that one house. You can see the power company pulled the meter and the electrical wires are no longer connected to the pole. The house looks like it has structural damage though. Without jacking up the house and repairing the foundation, I don't know that you could fix it. The big problem is that the ground isn't stable to build the foundation on.

Too bad for the family..
