Hello All!

I found a Geneology website with some photo's of Carbondale before the Mine Fires devastated the west end of town. You can see the D& H Yard, The area where the Coalbrook Colliery was located at & the NY O & W where it crossed over the D & H. The website is: www.italygenes.com & there are enough interesting photo's of Carbondale in it's heyday. Take Care.

in that aerial you can see the coalbrook powerhouse and just how massive the culm pile was from the breaker, which is gone in that photo.

It really amazes me how much real estate was burned/torn down in Carbondale. Judging by the arial photo, it looks as if the area discussed here is roughly about the size of Jermyn & Mayfield put together. So much history lost forever & such a shame too. I also read that the Hudson Coal Co. advised the City Fathers of Carbondale not to burn garbage in pits as that would expose underground coal veins & catch them on fire. Needless to say, their advice was not heeded at all & this is the end result. Take Care all.

While looking at the photo's of Carbondale here I was wondering which way the Old Gravity RR came into Town from Honesdale & which direction it took out of Carbondale. Anyone have photo's /maps of Carbondale that shows the Gravity RR & Station? Take Care all.

Thank You, Chris. Will there be any tours of the Gravity RR Bed or anything related to the Gravity in the future? Take Care.
