well 3 of us have plunged into mining coal. im actually surprised banks hasnt mentioned this yet. 2 weeks ago, banks started full time at UAE Coal Corp, Harmony Mine sinking their slope to the basin. yep he was the first! then, not to be outdone, mike a. and i started today working weekends at Alfred Brown Coal Co. 7 foot slope. ill tell ya, we got a tour of several of these active mines and have been working maintenance in the tour mines for 3 years now, and doing stuff in abandoned mines for 10 but digging coal is no joke! today me and the guy i was with loaded and dumped 29 tons. thats tapping coal out of the chute into the 1 ton buggy then pushing it (there is no mine motor) to the dump into the slope gunboat. then push it back.... rinse and repeat all day. now that i have it sorta figured out i bet we can figure another 10 tons added to that for next week. then it was timber time. we took 4- 8 foot by 10 inch props out of the slope buggy and loaded them into the mine car then pushed them to the chute we were working in and then took them 100 feet up the 70 degree pitch chute. mike a. can elaborate on how he worked in the chute filling it so we could unload it!

I spent the better part of the shift just shoveling coal from the heading down the chute. And lugged chute plank up into the heading along with a prop. After that
I was with the rest of them bringing props up into the monkey for monday.

Congrats, guys!

So, how does this effect the time that you put into your other various adventures?

well we are working saturdays there so it leaves sundays free to do work at the mine tours and other stuff during the week after work. we are working one or 2 days a week after work doing rail work now as well as "other" stuff. busy schedule.

I'll say!

As long as you love what you're doing, though, it doesn't matter how much time is involved.

Yeah, it leaves one very little time to drop a DVD in the mail.

Guess I'm waiting until the 28th, where someone can forget it again.
