A local land owner has torn down the Cameron #1 Pump Slope. When asked what he was doing with the pulley system, which included the chair, cables, and controls, the answer was not good. Its disgusting the history that has been lost in this part of the coal region.

I have a few photos of the tearing down process, but I am not in the mood right now to post them.

Well, the only good thing I can see out of this, the only thing, is the land owner is letting a non-profit group I'm involved with paint murals on the old washhouse. A good 50 people spent three hours last weekend tearing down trees and what not. So, at least the washhouse will be saved, for now.
