Nice pics. Did not see the head frame when I visited No. 9 Museum this summer. Didn't know it was there. Next time I go I'd like to see it, where in relation to the mine entrance is it? And do the owners mind people going to check it out?

john, last week we were working up in the escapeway. we were installing 180 feet on new wooden ladders. we had 2 guys on the outside lowering them down to us through the tube, then we took them down the pitch and bolted them together. also, put 3 new props in. we lowered them down from the top also. its alot easier than carring them up from the tunnel! we installed a pulley at the top of the tube last week to make that easier. gonna be working up in that thing again tomorrow. too bad you missed that adventure, im sure it was interesting seeing 12 foot ladders disappear into that tube!

Sounds like a great way to spend a holiday. I'd love to be able to get away for a few days and work on something like that. It would be cool to do some track work or something like that, too. Just a change of pace, something different. But this 12 days straight, all 3 shifts in one week no holidays off bullsnap really doesn't lend itself well to finding fun stuff like that to do.

Hope there is a next time I can get down there. I'll ask at the museum like you said and go see it. Or better yet, maybe I'll be able to come down when you guys are there

The tunnel is located down the street from the No. 9 mine. Turn down Ridge Street & go past the mine. Hang a left on Dock Street, go past the station about 200 yards & it is located on the left. If you go to the next intersection, turn left on Edgemont Road, & park at the gate, you can walk back to it.

The south portal in Lansford is sealed. The north portal near Lake Hauto, collapsed about 12 years ago & has been filled in.

Ya, the pay is good. I'm looking pretty hard for something else though. I wish I could get a whole weekend. Won't happen this year but if you're still working in Jan or Feb I'll be in touch. If I get something else, maybe sooner. Appreciate the offer, I'd do it this weekend if I could!
