Last night the Huber was the topic of the interactive segment. Guess Luzerne county is filling eminate domain papers to purchase the Huber. But are still contemplating if they should actualy purchase. Guess the owner ( No 1 ?) wants over 7 million for the property.

Let me preface my comments by saying my knowledge of historical property is in Civial War Battlefield Preservation.

I think it is great if a group wants to preserve the Breaker.

And I think that if all things are equal the present owner should give the advantage to preserving the site vs building a shopping mall.

But all things MUST be equal.

There is no reason for the county to push eminate domain, just to pay less than fair market value. That is not right by the present owner. They lynch pin is if a third party is in a hostle bidding war. I could see an argument then, but it is a thin one.

The other question is; is the owner asking 7 million because people are standing in line for the property or does he think the preservationist have deep pockets?
