AND in all my excitement i didnt even notice the old C.M. in the last photo i dont know if thats awesome that the northern field was more modernized than i thought or if those things should have stayed out west of here however it shows up to the end glen alden was kicking out some production and taking risks attempting to use "new" technology here in the anthracite! awesome stuff tony, simply awesome. im sure pete can fill in what make those exactly are. _________________ Come over to the Dark Side....... Now that is a professional mine. Dropping the shuttle car down the shaft is always a classic difficult to get photo. We still have a few mines that operate the exact same lowering all the supplies down the shafts. From the picture posted they were actually using the haulage hoist to lower the equipment in. We have a separate supply shaft in order not to stop production of the skip hoists.
I knew they used all that equipment out there. This confirms it. GREAT SHOTS. The continuous miner that is being used is a unique one. There is a similar model in a working display at the Tour Ed Mine. This is no Anty VS Bitty battle at all. The pictures say it all.
Seriously thanks for posting the pictures - - -those are just AWESOME shots. Look similar to our shots we take of our equipment - - - see what happens when they are black & white plus in Anty country then they get the attention - - - I always find that interesting. _________________ Pioneering the next INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION (Preservation ! ). . . Great pictures! That's how getting trucks and equipment down the shaft is still done out west. Cable it to the cage and lower away. I have not had the pleasure of seeing it done though, working in declines and all. Anybody who gets one of those shots is a lucky s.o.b. Very cool. _________________ Erik Novoa
