 Post subject: Alaska abandoned mines trip

im considering taking a trip up to Alaska to explore abandoned mines, ghost towns, and generally take in the sites! anyone have any experiance with Alaska abandoned mine sites??

We have been to a few up there & a few in British Columbia, Canada

Balls..

Mike, I talked to my buddie charlie today (the pilot that lived up there) .. He said to get a Mile Post book / map. I'm picking one up tomorrow. I guess you can't even read the road signs a lot of times because the signs are covered / buried. This book tells you what / where everything is by what mile you're at on the road. He said Hatcher pass isn't probably going to be possible in the winter too...which sucks. lots of gold deep mining there. Getting around on the main roads shouldn't be bad, but....
