For those interested. MSHA is looking for inspectors. I can't find the link at present but there is a Job Fair coming up in Eastern Pa later in the spring.

I figure this will spin Mike A. up real tight.

To show how warped I can be.

Just think of Star Wars:

Luke, I am you Father. Come to the Dark Side.

no that doesnt work, you gotta write fines its the job. its impossible not to go to a mine and find something, and then if you "overlook" something its favoritism. wont work, which stinks.

I don't know this for a fact, But, it would not surprise me to find that inspectors have a quota of citations to write. Even if it is not a written policy, if an inspector was routinely below the average of other inspectors in his District, management would start to wonder what the deal was. Is it favortisim, sleeping in the corner or what?

I have heard miners in this area remark that some mines do have it easier than others.

Chris, is right and it is exactly the reason I titled this thread as I did. You could not be buddies with the miners and an inspector too. There would be a definite us vs them mindset. Even if an inspector was really trying to make it work.

I was being sarcastic But it is true. They must have an award for the most citations written and the and one for the most petty citation

I think inspectors get a bad rap. Just like cops. Remember how many miners we were killing in the first half of the 20th century? Some do let the power go to their head. I don't think its the inspector totally but, the system. Since Sago and Aracoma the country has no tollerance for killing miners. Which is good but, the way MSHA is going about it is a little extreme. OH, by the way I'm gonna take the inspector test on either the 23, or 24 of March.

The inspectors are following a set of guidelines they can only enforce what is written down as the rules & regs.

Looks like I created a firestorm.

I thought there might be some interest.

I was looking to see if MSHA had any jobs in the GS-856 series. I need a change of scenery. Alas, doesn't look like it.
