Where there’s smoke ... $283K repair project begins at mine fire site

Nine months after an underground coal refuse fire ignited in East Norwegian Township, a $283,000 repair job has begun, according to John Mack, project manager with the federal Office of Surface Mining.

Mack said Monday OSM selected the lowest of at least 16 bidders for the job — Latona Trucking Inc., a Pittston excavating company.

“We’ll encircle about two or three acres,â€

This quote sounds like it was dumbed-down for the evening news, or we have just invented a great new fuel.

Shale, a mineral rock with little to no organic content, that burns. I do hope to learn that it has a high BTU content. With low carbon content, It should give off little CO2 when burned. Low sulphur.
