We came!

We saw!

We mined a wee bit.

Exported a couple hundred pounds of Anty back to the Illinois Basin.

And overall had a whale of a good time, that exceeded expectations.

But, its only 12 hours and 720 miles since we departed Pioneer and I'm on the home 'puter. Brian and I are only seeing colors and shapes by now.

So, it time to hit the shower and my own bed.

I would like to personally thank Chris, Banks, Mike A, and Eric for a great tour and everyone else that I talked to Sunday. I think learned more in one day than I have from reading books on coal mining!!!! It was great to finally put faces on all of you that are on this site. I know they took a ribbing about being bitty miners but I hope that Doug and Brian enjoyed their time in Hard Coal country. Thanks again guys and I look forward to the next gathering of people who love this kind of stuff. Keep up the great work!!!

oh yea...... for a bitty miner, that brian was alright! it was pretty sweet to have him on the tour, we had him talk about the size of some of the bitty mines as we compared the differences between here and pittsburgh.

Brian is lurking as a guest. I'll push him to get an account.

Scott, you are correct, it boggles my mine knowing the extent of the workings and driving the surface.

Here is a map of the mine Brian works at. AQ is the large blue area in the middle. Note the scale in the lower right.

According the Brian, they have now pushed to Vincennes to the NW and Hwy 41 on the left edge of this map. That is a distance of a couple of miles.

The orange dots are the entries. The other blue areas are inactive mines.

Look just West of Monroe City, IN. in the satellite images and you'll find the mine.

Just north of it is the other portal too....

Bingo What?

Brian and I lived the other direction from the mine.

No fair Banks, You're changing your post.

If you look up in Wheatland. What looks like another mine is a rail loadout.

Across the river to the south of AQ is another decent sized mine. That is 5-Star.

We've completely derailed this thread. Maybe we should start a new one.

we probably wont be doing any more field tours as it seems people really want to do underground tours, so that will be our focus for the time being anyways.
