got the word today that we are going to be restoring a mine car for the 190 slope..... aka the lackawanna coal mine. they have 2 cars outside in storage that are original from when the mine was active. all the cars outside there now are from the franklin colliery that was near wilkesbarre. these 2 we are restoring are original to the mine tour. they are the same exact type mine cars as this one from a near-by mine:

the deal we worked out with the mine tour is, we will be restoring one for them and in payment we get to keep the other one :D we will be working on getting them in the next few weeks, ill have some pics soon. well done banks!

Should be a fun project. Also add some UGM reputation to the Mine Tour as they will have on display a car which you guys restored.

yes, that is a good thing. went to look at them the other day. only one is an original car from 190 slope the other is a franklin car. so we will restore the original for the tour first, then we will keep the car from the franklin colliery. now that i checked this will be the only original car there, besides the one in mid dump in the tipple. however until they get the tipple fixed you cant see that one. plans are to pick up these cars at the end of the month.

now that we have some good first hand experience, and the knowledge not to do stuff backwards, we should have this car done in half the time it took us to do the flat car, what do you think?

well progress is being made on our cars for 190. talked to them today and they are dug out and cleared around. they are going to pull them this weekend or early next week and put them on level ground so we can go and pick them up. good stuff!

I guess they are pretty excited at the mine tour about getting their mine car restored. Once they are pulled out you can get a final examination on their condition.

well, now that the flat car is out and we do a little shuffling around in the shop we can fit 2 more project cars in. so, one will be the car we are doing for lackawanna and the other will be another job we have lined up. as soon as we get the 190 slope car at dads im going to start cutting it up so we can get it in the shop as soon as possible. ill talk to tom suppe this week and see how progress is doing. maybe we can have it home as well by the end of the week.

tomorrow banks and tom are going to take the back hoe and get the car out of the woods and near the parking lot so all we have to do is back up to it and load it up :D talk about service! and this is the franklin car, the one we are going to keep. its a really nice looking mine car. its a low veiner like the ones in the mine tour, not the ones outside by the tipple. it should play nicely with our others
