Well the weather was pleasant for a good mine hike. Fortunately didn't have to drive the mine bug far for a nice reward. This is a fairly large operation with open pits, tunnels, and shafts but unfortunately it is mostly underwater. These are pictures of the mine above the water table. Enjoy!

Great find, Mike:) I like the perspective on some the shots, too. Very interesting...

Some very nice shots Mike. We really need to go back during a drought in summer months to see what the mine is like. Some mines, during the dry season, have a pretty low water level which really opens up the possibilities..

Thank you Semiminer, Greg. If my drenched shirt isn't any indication, returning during a drought will also ensure we aren't dripped on incessantly. Of greater concern was that the camera was well positioned away from under any "leaky faucets" which as you know, has rendered a sudden halt to photo missions in the past. Unfortunately as you can tell from the pictures, the mine has been a dumping ground for some time. I imagine with a much lower water table this would be one of the most interesting mines to observe. The water filled open pits are large and appear quite deep.
