I was by the Peters mine yesterday and parked at the end of the road. As I came out of the car I saw Roger Degroat walking his dog right along the road. I stopped and talked to him a bit. Mr Degroat lays it out like it is. Nothing new has happened now that the site is back on the superfund list. The place has been cleaned up where the peters mine used to be and he told me that over 30,000 tons of garbage has been hauled out.
A few mine subsidances have occured, including an interesting one which reveals an opening into a drift. this is by the Hard/Mule mines where Harry Van Dunk died. The house next to this opening has been condemned and sealed off.
We are pretty much in wait and see mode now with the superfund listing.

Have they done any work on the incline for Peters Mine? Has anything been cleaned out of it?

No work done on the incline because Ford says its capped and they dont want to damage the cap LOL.

it looks cleaned up with limestone rocks laid out everywhere. Peters mine slope is stillt he same, a big lake.

Someone should send some underwater camera's down the Peter's Mine include to "inspect the integrity of the cap". I would guess it probably isn't too secure.
