It is interesting to see a moderately preserved mining center nestled in an beautiful surrounding. Do you know if they had any intentions (ahem.. money) to restore the tipple and trestle? They could certainly rebuild it accurately as all of the archeological remains are still there. Otherwise it will rot and disappear.

it does not look like they are going to restore it but maybe shore it up so stuff does not fall down, some of the buildings there have collapsed but this gives you the feel of an authentic site, as much of it was kept just rthe way it was abandoned pretty neat for a place open to the public. to visit this site you just put $5 in an envelope and drop it in a box, the whole place runs of a generater as it is kinda remote!
there is another mine called kenicott that is open to the public but you need to walk about 4 miles just to get there, i did not get to see that one.

CTMike, where is this mine located? Certainly is a good find even though the structures are needing some major stabilization. The shots you took were very neat. The wooden railroad is also very interesting! At least they made a good attempt at it!
