Northbound on 11 on your left, you will come across State Rt. 1010, or, Tunnel Hill Road. The road was built on the old roadbed starting at this intersection. This time of year, from that corner you can probably see them. There is a school just up the road from there.

It was years since I've been there, a friend knew the people that owned the business on 11 just past the garage so they let us access the tunnel from there. I don't know how the others react to requests like that.

It's been a few years, but it's swampy down there and if it's frozen near the portal, careful not to falll through the ice. Certainly worth a stop and look-see though.

Google map these roads and you can plainly see the tunnels from the satellite image and you can get a better feel of the location yourself from there. A Tom Tom or the like will take you there as well.

The building is at the south end of the tunnel. It was an intelocking tower. Be very carefull around the tunnel as it is heavily patrolled by CP police. And they arent tolerent as they used to be. And also it is an active rail line. But is interesting to see.

I watch the trains go by at Rt 107 which is just a little more South of the interlock building, never had a problem in that area with patrols, but Miner490 is correct about CP Police not as tolerant. Also be careful around the Tunkhannock Viaduct (Nicholson Bridge) as Overfield Twp police and the State Police are NOT tolerant as they use to be, I found out first hand a year ago when walking in the arches. The State trooper was a prick, but the Overfield Twp office was nice and even wanted to see the pictures I took of the inside of the pillar as he had never been inside them.

Also it's cool to check out the air vents for the tunnel, I always go to the Southern one, it's more isolated than the Northern one. If you are lucky or know the schedule (like I do) of a train, it's something to look down the air vent while a train is passing through.
